Hi All:

HP Elitebook 2340p, Win 7 Enterprise 64-bit, 8 gb ram, 250 gb drive.

Locked to FBI Virus screen on normal boot, can't access Safe Mode using f8 (blocked). Company is closed until Jan 2 and I need access to company network during the next week (sales don't stop just because production has). Any suggestions on getting around the safe mode block greatly appreciated.

Regards:

Hi paulc149,

Welcome to the forum.

What do yo mean by Safe Mode is locked? Do you mean F8 key is not responding or it is responding but selecting Safe Mode from Advanced Boot Options doesn't get you to Safe Mode?

In any case I can't assist you with unlocking Safe Mode but I can assist you with removing the infection. Please tell me if you want that. In that case, if with locking Safe Mode you mean F8 key is not working, we need a Windows installation disk or a Repair disk to boot to recovery mode, or access to another computer with Windows 7 (preferably x64 bit) on it.
