Hello. I have a problem with this Toshiba laptop. The screen is lighting up but only shows vertical lines. I have checked and reseated each connection. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My mind isn't quite sure what it has bargained for, but my heart is in time with, with the consistency of Your's.

Hi, Most likely you have a bad screen. You say you reseated each connection. The two that count would be the wide ribbon with one end at the screen and the other end at the motherboard. The test to do next is to hook the laptop up to a monitor to confirm or exclude a bad video card.

Hook up the external monitor and then turn on the laptop and see if it works. If not look at the Fn keys. Press Fn and the one that selects Internal, external or both displays.

If the external monitor is clear and does not have those lines then your LCD is bad. What you are showing is usually the LCD going bad, but not always. That is why we test.

It couldn't hurt to post the model of your Toshiba.

Good Luck
Roger
