Happy Holidays,

Casual Gamer. Have Dragon Age Origins.
Not played (this or any game) for over a year, and was surprised (recently tried to play) when I received the error "Error initializing PhysX. Please visit www.nvidia.com for updated drivers."... Sounds simple enough. However, I go there and do not find a driver to support my HIS Radeon HD 4670.

So:
  • This card truly not supported by Nvidia?
  • Do I now need this Driver for this game?
  • Can I get around the error?

I find it funny how the game ran perfectly happy in the past (i.e. over a year ago), and somehow it was smart enough to check for driver installs before it runs? My basic internet searches have found no easy answer, thought I'd check in here to see if I'm missing something on this issue.

As always, thanks in advance...

Hi, The Radeon HD 4670 is a ATI (AMD) video card and Nvidia will not support it at all.

Visit This site for drivers.

Is there a setting to turn off PhysX in the game? Or do you have one of the older standalone PhysX cards installed?

Roger

Just to follow-up:

The PhysX driver for this particular game utilizes the CPU and not the GPU. Therefore, updating/installing the Nvidia PhysX system driver resolves the problem despite the use of an ATI card.

This link to that CPU driver: PhysX System Software
