Hi, my iPhone (which still has the old un-supported iOS 5) received a spam text message today, I deleted it after reading it and I was wondering if my iPhone could have been infected.

Also, is it even possible to get infected by text messages (for any cell phone)? Thanks...

I have an iPhone myself, but really for any cell phone/smart phone. I get a TON of spam text messages, and I always delete them all, but can I get malware from them? Thanks...

From what I have read the answer is no.
You need to open a link or download certain apps..

Here's an Example
Another short item in this..

How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook

Well, just to be on the safe side do you know how to disable the iPhone from automatically opening text messages?

So does stopping it from displaying the preview stop it from "opening" up the message?
