I'm on windows 7 and lately explorer just stop working,freeze and turn off and I loose the page and all the currents dowloads

First of all, that stinks. Here is what I would try first:

1. reset the browser by going to "tools" "internet options" "advanced" and "reset."

2. If that does not work, you might try reinstalling IE8.
This can be done by going into the control panel, programs and features, view installed updates.
From here, find Internet Explorer 8 and remove it. After that, restart the machine. IE8 will reinstall
itself.
3. If you are STILL having problems after that, try "upgrading" (if you can call it an upgrade) to IE9.
4. I know it may not fix the underlying issue, but if you are not dead-set on internet explorer, may I recommend Chrome? It's wonderful.

Do you have All current Windows Updates ?? It sounds not -----
Current Updates would have you working with I.E.9 long ago -

Do you have a Second browser installed ?? If so use this and not I.E. for now -
