I would like to remotely be able to access my files on my desktop. right now, i have xp installed, and am trying to ssh to it via putty via it's ip address, although i'm getting a timeout error. i looked at tutorials online, and they show connecting to a domain, which i do not have registered. is there a way to connect directly to an ip address? would installing server on it fix the issue, or would i get the same error?
