"about:blank" Infection

I run Windows XP Home. I believe my IE browser has been hijacked by "About:Blank". I believe I got this while accepting an Upgrade offer from Trend Micro just after I received my Definitions Update. I usually use Firefox, but upon logging on, my IE browser starts up, real fast. I verified on my Internet Options General Tab that About:Blank is showing up as my choice of homepage, even tho is isn't.

I have run all the recommended scans as suggested by castlecops.com, have submitted my Hijack This Log with them last Tuesday. While I wait, I'm wondering if anyone out there can tell me anything about this pest? Mostly, how to get rid of it would be nice. All of my scans came back clean, I usually run a tight ship and am most vigilant about keeping my computer clean. Thanks in advance for any help.

Which operating system are you running? E.g. XP.

Hi Folks! My computer is infected AGAIN! last time it was two seperate virus....one called " spyfalcon" and one pretending to be windows saying my computer was infected....it also redirected me to www.necessaryupdates.com regardless of me changing my home page options!

Its back again but in a form called "spywarequake" which i cannot delete and also an error message flashing constantly saying my computer is infected....again it also changed my home address!! please help me...i've run spyware doctor....panda....anti malware and ive used all the same steps that i used to get rid of spyfalcon

Hopefully someone can help me!

Eagle7, download and scan with CWShredder. - zipped version.
Stand-alone Exe
1. Double-click on cwshredder.exe to start the program.
2. Click the "Check for Update" button to ensure you have the latest version.
3. Click the "Fix" button (not "Scan Only").
4. Let it run completely and fix whatever if finds.
5. When the scan is completed and all files are removed, close the program.

Download and run About:Buster from one of these locations:
About:Buster Tutorial (recommended to run in "Safe Mode")

Post back and let us know if that helps.
