HI,

I am having 2 issues with my computer and because of that I am losing internet connection intermittently.
1) Problem 1 - I lose internet connections very frequently. My PC drops connection and connects back with in 1 min. When I checked system event I see the log as below.
-- Name resolution for the name dns.msftncsi.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
here dns.msftncsi.com is just one server, but I do see logs for other server as well.

2)Problem 2 - Time to time I get IP conflict issues. I don't have fixed IP address.
The system detected an address conflict for IP address 192.168.0.4 with the system having network hardware address 90-21-55-E8-29-C8. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.

Initially I thought both problems was todo with my ISP provider, but I begin to think it could be issue with my computer as my ISP provider tried everything from their side such as changing modem, router..etc.

My computer is windows 7, intel core i7 Q720@1.60GHZ, 8GB Ram.

Any help is really appreciated.

Hi,

Do you have a HTC device also connected to the Network?
If you have make sure the device is configured to use DHCP instead of using a static IP.

SleepyDude,

Thanks for your reply. Yes. I have HTC Desire HD phone and But static IP option not checked in. So it uses DHCP already.

Thanks

Please find it below for minitoolbox results. Since my previous post, I went through other posts to workout slow performance of my PC. Based on that I ran adwcleaner.exe, Malwarebytes anti-malware, Superantispyware & junkware removal, it cleaned up some of registry entries. Also I had removed unnecessary start ups. I am not sure whether above cleanups will impact your analysis. I normally use google chrome browser. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I don't know why you get the IP conflict but one way to solve the problem is to change the DHCP range and use a fixed IP address on the PC.
Change the DHCP range to only 200 users and then set a static IP outside the DHCP range on the PC to 192.168.0.250

Another option if the router DHCP accepts lease reservation you can fix the IP for the desktop on the router to the mac address F0-7B-CB-72-3B-E0

Thanks to both. I'll try and let you know. I also have mac air, I get ip conflict there as well. I'll try to change both my PC and Mac ip address to static and try.

That is strange do you have only a router in your network? Are you sure you don't have any PC configured as DHCP server using something like Internet Connection Sharing?
