Audio Problem

Hey guys, me computer has a plug in for headphones in the front and when I plug my head phones in there is not sound. I am running win98.. whats the problem?? a win98 audio setting??

If you can hear sound with your speakers plugged into the rear plug, then most probably it's a problem with the front plug. Perhaps it is damaged or disconnected. Some white boxes are lousy assembled and the front connections are not usable.
