What is happening which makes you want to check your motherboard?

Oh, I wanna upgrade it to core i3, and not sure the mainboard support the CPU

Since it is an old model, I also wanna know whether it is compatible with DDR 3 or the existing one is DDR2, thx

Best data I can come up with...does not reflect board:

Motherboard Chipset: Mobile Intel Alviso-G i915GM
Memory: 502 MB (DDR2-400 DDR2 SDRAM)

Per http://www.tonymacx86.com/snow-leopard-laptop-support/4586-samsung-sx20s-witch-os-x.html

From what I was able to find it looks like that is a socket 479 which supports the Pentium M series processors of which are all single core CPUs.

The RAM for this motherboard is DDR2.

I'm guessing that this motherboard is in a Samsung notebook?

When asking questions like this it usually is helpful to provide the make and model of the computer, unless it is a custom build. This makes it easier to find information.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

The Pentium-M were all single core, utilizing Socket 479. The dual core next generation Core Duo was a different architecture using Socket M which came out in 2006. The SX20S apparently sold only in Korea in 2005, so will be limited to Pentium-M support. Core i3 is three generations later with completely different socket and support chipset requirements, so there is no possibility of upgrade.
