My old crappy laptop has been directly connected to my printer and working fine, and now all the sudden I get a little icon and a message saying it cant connect to the printer. I tried hooking up another printer, and that wont work either. so I figure its the computer. I updated windows, unhooked all cables and powered down. still nothing. any help would be appreciated.

It would help a great deal if you post the make and model of your computer and which operating system you are running. It would also help to know the make and model of the printer.

Does the printer show up in the control panel?

Do you have the driver installation CD that came with the printer?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Look in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel to see if the dirvers for the printer are there.

If they are uninstall them and go to this HP site and download the drivers.
