I have encountered a strange problem over the last two days. my games began lagging badly over the last two days and are almost unplayable this was never the case before the weird part is that they play perfect as long as task manager is open. i have scanned for virus with avast spybot malwarebytes and hijack this all to no avail.I am preparing for a format and windows reinstall but would like to avoid if possible so if anyone has any ideas would gladly listen

Have you tried anything like CCleaner? It's in the download section here and does a good job of cleaning things up assuming your not really infected.

I've noticed a few times that my active antivirus software can be touchy with games and I open the task manager to find a warning in the background that I need to close before the game returns to normal.

If it really is a virus or malware open a post in that section and include what ever log they require. OTL for example.

Hope this helps to resolve things.

Please download MiniToolBox , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792 .
