So my computer has some sort of infection I think because I get errors like

"windows cannot start the Windows Firewall service" whenever I try to turn on the windows firewall from the security center or control panel.

"Windows Defender encountered an error: 0x800106ba. A problem caused this program's service to stop. To start the service, restart your computer or search Help and Support for how to start a service manually."

In addition my firefox internet browser search engines have suddnely disappeared. Firefox shows that I have no search engines installed when I did.

Appreciate any help in cleaning my pc.

I have just run ESETONLINE scan but it has found no threats
This is on windows vista home btw

I followed these steps and now am able to enable windows firewall.... and everything else
