I have a Celeron 466 running Windoze 98SE with Computer Associates Anti-virus (up to date).

But this morning I somehow got a worm via "don't have a clue".

It seems to have stopped me from running any EXE file & when I try to run msconfig or regedit, it tells me it can't find "winupdat.EX or winupdate.EX". I can't surf to get help on the NET so I am using a friends computer to see if this group can help.

I am STUCK completely!!! When I try to run an EX, it keeps looking for a file in "windows\start menu\programs\startup\winupdat.EXE" and says it can not find it.

Any suggestions of where I should start? AVG will NOT run, just get the error message above.

Now I know why the IT Folks earn the BIG BUCKS, they deserve it.

Thanks for the anticipated help.
