Forgive me if this topic has been posted elsewhere, it's possible I looked over it. Does anyone know anything about Deep Freeze by Faronics? Specifically, what are the pros and cons to using Deep Freeze?

We use to use deep  freeze worked pretty well for us until we started running into issues with windows update and the computers in the lab would be stuck on this endless loop.  after doing some research we found out that it was deep freeze causing this issue so we started looking at other options to replace with and we found a program called drive vaccine, we have been using it for about a year and a half and it has worked pretty well so far for us and we dont have issues with doing windows updates to our machines.  just another option to look at if you are still wanting information

Deep Freeze by Faronics is security management software which allows system administrators to protect the operating system and configuration files on computers (workstations, servers) in enterprise environments by providing the ability to restore a computer back to its original configuration state upon each reboot. It is an alternative to imaging solutions and is frequently used in schools and universities, to prevent students from installing software or altering the operating system.

Deep Freeze helps eliminate workstation damage and downtime by making computer configurations indestructible. Once Deep Freeze is installed on a workstation, any changes made to the computer—regardless of whether they are accidental or malicious—are never permanent.

Deep Freeze User Guide

Drive Vaccine is a software application developed by Horizon DataSys for Microsoft Windows that restores PCs back to a predefined configuration (or baseline) set by system administrators. It’s designed specifically for unattended PC management environments such as internet cafés, schools, kiosks, libraries, etc.; anywhere where there's a need for an automated restore-on-reboot type utility that undoes any changes made by public users....
