:oopsign:  Hello there, new user here. I'm having similar error with booting after (possibly unrelated) downloading an upgrade of Adobe Flashplayer. I fell asleep so the computer ran about six hours. when I returned the screen display finally responded displaying window notifying of low virtual memory and windows was increasing its size. However seemed to get stuck & wasn't responding so I had to eventually unplug ( knowing this can create problems ). Upon startup, thats when the boot issue began. A blank screen reading Windows couldn't boot, missing or corrupt ntoskrnl.exe file. I may have caused this file corrupting by cutting power. Without the xp disc, what advice correcting this issue on a Gateway, Windows XP loaded computer? Jonny Z

Contact Gateway and see if you can obtain recovery disks.

What model Gateway system?

FWIW: The standard fix per Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314477

:thumbup2: Back on the board. Got the notification, Thanks Louis. I've been working out some bugs on another (my mothers computer) also. Here is some reference info for the problem GATEWAY. I still can't boot Windows, safe mode, or even "LAST GOOD CONFIGURATION". I still do not have a bootup disc. However, this other computer is running XP PRO also. Can I copy bootup files from it to a flash drive and use it on this Gateway??? Still getting "MISSING OR CORRUPT ntoskrn.exe PLEASE REINSTALL". Any reccomendations to correct this issue, I would appreciate some informed guidance. THANKS

---GATEWAY mod# ATXAEG LX2 700S
---Intel ® Pentium ® 4 -- 2.26 GHz
---sys bus speed 533 MHz
---cashe ram 512 KB -- (Can I increase this with a flash drive?)
---tot mem 256 MB
---WINDOWS XP Pro --(upgraded but updates or SP's, unsure)
end
