Sorry about the title I meant Dowload !

I have an Dial-up connection and am reinstalling a desk top in order to use Windows updates

I need SP3, . . so I found a download site for the required SP3, 1 problem

it will take maybe 44 hours to load, . . I would not mind that if I can pause and continue later

also my phone line here is not very secure and sometime disconnects, . . I am sure it is the phone company line and I will try to locate that problem.

However until then, is there some advice anyone has that might make this work ?

I placed a call to DELL and have found out that this is a Microsoft issue, . .
the Re-installation disc is for a DELL laptop and is XP Professional, I have installed it
on the Dimension 2350 it works fine, however I am getting a messg. that it expires in 30 days.

I'd like to know will Microsoft validate this with a workaround ?

So I am getting the 28 days till activation message and have gone to Microsoft Site for Legalization

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/piracy/knowthefacts/legalizationsolutions.aspx

Get Genuine Online Kit / Windows Genuine Advantage Kit

Get Genuine Online Kit /Windows Genuine Advantage Kit is available worldwide as an online solution for consumers that fail online validation. If you access downloads on the Microsoft Download Center or on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site, you may be prompted to complete the Windows Genuine Advantage validation check process. The WGA Validation Tool performs a validation check to verify that your copy of Windows is genuine. If the copy of Windows does not pass the validation check, you receive a message that states why it failed, information about other steps to try, and how you can obtain a genuine copy of Windows.

So anyone familiar with this problem and or the "Validation Tool" ?
