Has anyone encountered this problem. Symantec Endpoint Protection, 2011 or 2012. Every day or two when the computer is turned on it says: Your computer may not be protected. DING installer is not working properly due to a problem that has occured during LiveUpdate. Your computer may now be vulnerable to malware, and other threats. Please uninstall your Norton product.

I have done this with the Norton removal tool and through control panel remove programs. Reinstall the software and day or two later, same error message. It worked fine for several months and then it just started to give this error message.

Computer is an i5 processor
Windows 7

Hello -
Can I ask if by chance you have had another Antivirus installed recently, or previously ??
This can occur (according to Symantec / Norton forum) if a previous Antivirus, or old Norton program, was not uninstalled correctly -

Thank You -

An older version of Norton was on the computer before the change to the current version. Would running the Norton Removal tool not remove all installed Norton products?

Hi -
Again I have quoted this reply from a very similar problem that was listed on the Norton forum -

First run > http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9748992 << M/soft Fix It installer helper -

This file is part of DING - DiMaster.dll is developed by Symantec Corporation.

Last given solution =
While still connected to the Internet download the correct removal tools for each program onto that computer.

For the Norton computer it is the Norton Removal Tool found here: http://www.symantec.com/nrt/
Disconnect from the Internet and do a control panel uninstall and reboot. Run the removal tool and reboot
Install the security product of choice and reconnect to the Internet to complete the activation and do the necessary updating.
If you get the message that you have exceeded your installations contact the customer support folks here:
http://us.norton.com/support/contact/contact.jsp?p?vid=cs
They can only help you with the Norton products but they do that very well.
