I have a blank line for a msconfig start entry.......
is there any reason this should be here and any info on what causes this?

pacs-portal explains MSCONFIG Blank Entries.

Since one cause is malware, you should update and perform a scan with your anti-virus.

I also suggest you do the following:

1. Download and scan with Ad-Aware SE 1.06.
If you already have Ad-Aware SE, please setup & configure as shown here.

2. Download and scan with Spybot S&D 1.4.
Setup & Configure as shown here.
[DO NOT choose the option to install TeaTimer]

3. Windows 2000 and XP users ONLY: Download and scan with Ewido Anti-Malware 3.5.
