Hello I have a video card with an HDMI port that should be sound capable. I tested the display I'm connected to with my laptop and it works fine from there. According to the documentation for my video card I don't need to add any extra connectors and I'm still getting nothing. When I go into Control Panel > Sound I am not even seeing the ATI Card as an available device. According to the documentation associated with the video card I should be seeing that. Also according to the documentation for the mainboard all I need to do is set the onboard SPDIF_OUT to HDMI mode and it should work but it doesn't.

Video Card: XFX ATI Radeon HD6850... HD-685X-ZCFC

Mainboard: Asus M4A785TD-V Evo

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Anyone had any similar issues or have any ideas?

Any "ATI HDMI Audio" listed under Sound devices in device manager? Yellow exclamation mark next to it?

First step I can think of is to download your drivers from AMD/ATI. When installing verify that the audio drivers install, it should automatically, but be sure.

I just tried reinstalling drivers from ATI website and it says they are all up to date. When I open the sound window I get this options:

VIA HD Audio is the onboard audio chipset on the mainboard.
AMD Phenom II X6 2.8ghz
8GB DDR3 RAM
XFX ATI Radeon HD6850 1 GB DDR5, 26" Widescreen HDMI
