I have the Compaq 7550 Monitor connected to the Dell Dimension 2350, but I am sure the monitor was getting funny a while ago.

Any it really needs fixing if possible it hard to read etc.

Here's an idea of the problem;

That isn't a monitor problem. Your video card driver is missing or corrupt. If you still have the Dell resource CD, install the drivers from it. If not, get them from Dell. Someone else should be able to tell you how to determine what graphics adapter you have. It will probably be some form of Intel graphics. Don't use any "driver finder" or driver updater software.

However, I have used that model of monitor and thought it sucked.

I don't doubt That, . . but it is all I have for this PC at this time.

Anyway I am in the mist of doing some driver installations.

In device manager I have (2) yellow question marks next to
Ethernet Controller

and Video Controller (VGA compatible)

Would the latter be what your talking about ?

Yes, I was talking about the video controller.

Also, I see that you have a program called DriverTuner installed. That appears to be a driver updating tool. Updating drivers just because there is an update available causes most of the software-related computer problems I see, and I can rarely fix the problem without reinstalling Windows. I would say that updating drivers on a perfectly working computer is just as dangerous as running registry cleaners. Unless the computer has a problem that the updated driver fixes, the best thing the update can do is nothing. That is why I mentioned to download the driver directly from Dell.

installing it, . any short cut or simplification ?

You need to install the chipset driver in Win XP http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/dimension-2350

I think the file you download is just a self-extracting archive. You need to run the setup program from within the folder the files were unzipped into.

You need the Intel driver listed in the Video section of the Dell driver download page. For the Ethernet controller, there are many choices on that page, and I don't know which one you need. There should be a support section where you can enter the service tag and see what hardware that computer had in it from the factory and download only the drivers you need.
