I am starting up a PC that has been here for a while and

amongst other problems I am still in need of a Multimedia Audio Controller Driver

When I started loading drivers from Dell's site today, I DL'ed a chip set, I am not sure if its possible to download the wrong drivers to the components, but there were 3 of them under Other devices and 2 have disappeared somewhere ?

Having said that I still need to fix the following ;

I have become a little tired of trying to get this from Dell,( about 4 hours now trying to complete this thing) actually I should have it in a file on my hard drive but I can not find it.

Do you have a better way of finding this driver. I'd like to get started updating windows but I need to do this other stuff first.

Your assistance is appreciated.

Based on prior experience with the Dimension 2350 this should be the one for the built-in sound.
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/dimension-2350?driverId=5Y3JP&osCode=WW1&fileId=2731105090

Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio

ADI Onboard Sound Driver Multiple System.

When you download make sure you pick where to save it, The Desktop makes it easy to find.
Are you using Internet Explorer or Some other Browser?

The Chipset driver will usually load drivers for several device that are built into the chipset.

but also, as posted in external hardware I have a monitor problem, which adds to the wickit I'm in here,

Yes I downloaded at least three but now am not sure which is which and is why I posted the SS's but it also seems the names change as it installs the drivers because as stated there were 3 one was the Ethernet, ??

The Dell driver files are a program file that unpacks itself and then runs the install routine.

You should not be unzipping nor should you need to run the Hardware update wizard. Everytime I have installed drivers on a Dell I only have to run the downloaded .exe file and follow the onscreen prompts.

Download page for the Dimension 2350

VGA ishere

Ethernet ishere for a gigabit Ethernet or more likely here for a 10/100Mb Ethernet.

Just Download and run, Dell made it easy.

Good Luck

You don't unzip it the R79733.exe does that.

Actually it should be unzipping itself to a folder called C:\Dell\drivers\R79733 and then running the setup.exe program unless you are cancelling it somehow. You can also look for the folder C:\Dell\drivers\R79733,
inside that folder should be a setup program called setup.exe. Run that progarm.

I just tested it.

That should work unless you have a video card installed. If so then you will need to identify it by make and model.

Good Luck
Roger

Hello Roger,

Are you still there, according to the device manager and after an upgrade from the Windows XP Home SP2 TO Windows Professional SP3,(which I will have for another 26 days),

I am no longer showing either the VGA or Ethernet Controller,etc, however I am showing a problem with the Multimedia Audio Controller, which was an original problem with the SP2 edition, . and also I am now showing a problem with the PCI parallel port, which is probably why I can not connect on line.

So somehow things switched around on me after this recent installation but this problem did not occur right away, everything seemed fine until I turned the PC off for a day or two, upon restart I found this problem after discovering that I could not connect on line.

So, once again your assistance will be appreciated.

Does the DELL 2350 Parallel Port Driver go by another name because I could not find it

in any of the following;

Application (5)
Audio (1)
BIOS (1)
Chipset (1)
Communications (10)
Diagnostics (2)
Displays (1)
IDE/EIDE (1)
Network (10)
Patches And Fixes (1)
Removable Storage (13)
Video (6)

, . . on this page;

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/dimension-2350

I now know it is part of Intel 82801DB PCI Bridge
but I am still searching, but DELL is non specific on any of these terms.
