I don't know what I'm infected with or how to fix it. Sometimes my cursor disappears and I have to turn off the computer - it won't shut down normally. At other times, my browser disappears. Once it happened when I clicked on the back button and it always happens when I try to go to ebay.com. Thanks for any help.

"Welcome to BC caiton"

Have you performed any anti-spyware & anti-virus scans? If not I recommend you do the following:

Download and scan with Ad-Aware SE 1.06.
If you already have Ad-Aware SE, please setup & configure as shown here.

Download and scan with Spybot S&D 1.4.
Setup & Configure as shown here.
[DO NOT choose the option to install TeaTimer]

Windows 2000 and XP users ONLY: Download and scan with Ewido Anti-Malware 3.5.

Then please perform these online Virus scans:

I haven't been able to complete the House Call scan. It shows that I have two viruses, but the computer hangs up everytime and I'm not able to delete them.

What two virus infections (names) is it saying you have? Have you been able to complete the Panda online scan?

The scan never gets that far. It usually gets to 99%, but the screen turns black except for showing the progress and time elapsed and sometimes a flashing white bar at the bottom. Also, the cursor doesn't work. When I used Ewido, it found trojan.puper.ac - which it cleaned. I'm using Panda now, it's only a 1/4 of the way through and has already found 3 viruses, 21 spyware, and 1 hacking tool. It costs $50.00 to remove these infections, but if you think it would work, I'd like to buy it. I just want to make sure it will work because I paid over $60 for norton and it's scan isn't finding any of these viruses.

Panda ActiveScan does not remove adware/spyware but will autoclean for viruses & worms. I'd hold off on any purchase until we see what we are dealing with.

You can try doing the Housecall scan using Firefox. It scans and removes whatever it finds.
Trend Micro Housecall Scan for Firefox

Download Firefox here if you don't already have it.

These free Antivirus programs are good alternatives to Norton and not so resource heavy should you be considering a change.

I tried it on Firefox and that didn't work either - it always hangs. My computer is doing other things too. When it starts up, a window pops up and says " installing windows". I always hit cancel and then a window says " norton antivirus does not support this repair feature - uninstall and reinstall".
