I've never changed the settings, but my new Dell with windows 8 doesn't like to wake from sleep mode. Sometimes it wakes OK, sometimes I have to do a power off shutdown then restart. Has anyone had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? Thanks.

A common problem for resume/waken failures are Windows drivers. Updating to the latest drivers possible can fix this problem, but as Windows 8 is rather new it may be a while till you get updated drivers for all your devices. Your best bet is to check the manufacturers web sites.

I hear you with the driver problem. The only peripheral device I've installed is a HP Deskjet 5440 printer and I let windows install a driver for it. The printer works OK, but that's most likely the prob. It will be awhile before HP comes out with a driver for win 8. In the mean time I've made some changes to the settings and so far so good. I went back to the plain Dell desktop wallpaper and set the timer to wait 30 minutes before going to sleep. Thanks for the reply.
