Windows xp reinstallation

Windows XP has to be reinstalled in my laptop.Please let me know how do I do that as I do not have cd with me.

Mine is dell inspiron 640M/E1405 laptop.. my hard disk drive had crashed recently..i have put up a new one and i need to reinstall windows XP OS now..

You will need an XP CD in order to install the OS. If you did not receive one from Dell you can either contact them or try to purchase one.

"Recovery/restore disks" for various OEM systems...have been available commercially for several years now. Examples follow.

This distinguishes them from the XP Recovery Console...which can be a tool used for repairing XP systems.
