I read this on another site and would like to know your feelings on having java installed, they suggest removing java from the computer. I am just double checking, would like to get more opinions.

Although Java has been updated to address vulnerabilities, the advice still stands to do without Java on your computer. Java vulnerabilities are discovered and exploited on a regular basis, and it can sometimes be difficult to install the updates as soon as they get released.

I would keep it. Though Java isn't as commonly used on websites as it once was, you never know when it will turn up. It's also not as annoying to update as it once was. When it updated, it didn't get rid of old versions and you would have to do that manually. That was changed a couple of years ago. I think the advice you were given is based on outdated info. And don't confuse Java with JavaScript. They are different.
