I am having the same problem trying to install this Windows Update, following the advice given by 'naremxp', to wit:

Download dotnetfx from here

Right click on the file and extract.Double click on extracted folder and make sure you have a file called netfx.msi

Install them again and when you receive this error

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network service that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'netfx.msi' in the box below"

Click on Browse and point to netfx.msi

good luck

'dotnetfx' is an executable (.exe) file. It takes a while to download, but when I click on it to run the program, it attempts to download the "Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package".

But nowhere can I find any place where I can 'extract' the file, right click or otherwise.

Can anyone help explain this?

Thank you!

Me Again:

When I click on the downloaded dotnetfx.exe file, it asks if I want to install 'Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Installer' package. I click Yes, it extracts files, and begins to install, then it vanishes!

Still no closer to figuring out why it won't install the update - and I'm still getting frequent Blue Screens of Death!
