My laptop has been running really slow lately and freezing up to the point I have to restart, and the process repeats. This morning, I got a message saying that I may be a victim of software counterfeiting. I tried running the sfc /scannow, but it freezes at 34% and it tells me Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

I lost my mother Monday morning, and have hundreds of photos of her on my laptop that I am terrified of losing before I get the chance to back them up. Can anyone help me?

Hello, soory for your loss.. To be totally safe and not autmatically remove any infected file that may be of value lets get a deeper look. Please follow this Preparation Guide and post in a new topic.

Let me know if all went well.
How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook
