what is the difference between an amd processor and an intel processor? is one better than the other?

Age old argument, about which is better. The architecture is way different. The general consenses is intel is the better one, at least currently, but to me a lot depends on what your using it for. For high end CAD stuff and the like, the intel i7 is definetly the way to go, but as far as 3D gaming, or even a general high gaming system, I prefer AMD over intel. In fact, unless its for auto CAD and the like, I prefer AMD anyway, just because I think the cost/price and performance ratio is better-intel chips are severely overpriced, and I think you get more bang for your buck with AMD.
