I have a Dell Vostro 1510 running Win 7 Home Premium upgrade from Vista, that I want to give to my daughter (don't sigh and shake your head) unfortunately I couldn't get it to run any faster than molasses in January so I took Comodo off and replaced it with one of my 3 licenses of Bitdefender Total Security 2011. It cured what ailed it (a virus) and it sped it up as if it were new. Then I found out I cannot get on the internet so I go onto another computer and and read what I could get my hands on. I found Fix Internet Connection after Malware Removal - Select Real Security did everything it said. I tried to search for the tdx.sys as it tell you to and there was none. Since then I have been trying to find a REAL tdx.sys file that is NOT attached to some stupid software that A. I don't need and B. Wants me to buy it BEFORE it fixes anything! I then figured that I could find the file on my Acer that has factory installed Win 7 Home Prem and put it in the C:\Windows\system32\Drivers. After doing so I went and ran the FSS program again and things did get better! Now the tdx.sys is no longer missing but there seems to be a problem with opening the tdx service.
I ran the FSS program again and it is copied and pasted here:

I have I have spent close to 12 hours on this problem over 2 days. I have posted this on 2 tech forum sites which received lots of views but no replies.
FYI: I own 4 computers a couple of tablets and smartphones, and help run a family municipal accounting (Marge 2012) software company (Townhall Software Inc) (Run by 3 generations of WOMEN since our Dad died). I have spent a good 30+ years on computers building, updating, tutoring people on, fixing etc. so I am computer literate (as opposed to a rock) which means I am not a tech geek (in my mind) and I probably know enough to screw it up real well

Hi idsbusha..

Try unchecking use a proxy server and see if internet works for you...

Open IE and click on tools>>click internet options>>select the 'connections' tab...Under the 'Local Area Network' section click 'LAN settings' when the new box opens look Under the 'Proxy Server' section..uncheck the 'Use a proxy server for your LAN...click okay and close.

I tried unchecking the proxy server and still I am stuck at "Identifying" the same problem as before. I should say that the computer sees my network, can communicate with the router (linksys E3200) since it asked for the password and I can push the button and it gets it from the router. The troubleshooter is a waste of time. Any other instructions I am so willing to try anything (short of pitching it out the front door)

I am doing what you say only. I also had deleted my networks previously to stop the "identifying" per a request of another post to help BEFORE you first posted. I can go in and add the network through the "connect to a network" if you need me to.

I think we are getting closer to a resolution to the problem! here is the last farbar service log:

On the net start dhcp I get this error "System error 1068 has occurred. The dependency service or group failed to start"

I am heading to bed since it's nearly 3 a.m. I will be good to go in another 6-7 hours  I am so very appreciative of your hard work and patience and am glad I found a techy to really help and not just tell me things anybody would know with my experience (that's why I put it on the post) I was hoping to keep the well-meaning-think-their-a-geek types scared off. So far it has been only a couple of those replies and I thank them then go on. Bleepingcomputer may be going on our company website since this has been by far the best of the 3 I posted to. Thanks again and I am off to bed!

The NetO Legacy TDT Support driver is NOT in the device manager. The errors were still the same as above

Please do not wait for me to ask all questions. You have to post here if you have any issues following my help.

When i ask you to uninstall NetIO Legacy TDI Support Driver you could have said that you are not seeing it in device manager.

Download

legacy tdx
TDX

Launch them and click YES

Restart the PC and see if you can find it in device manager

I am not sure how it got misunderstood but I DID see it and uninstalled it per your instructions. Then when you asked if it was there AFTER I uninstalled and rebooted and followed your instructions it was no longer there. I am sorry if I misread or mislead you. I will continue to tell you everything I am seeing.

The Legacy tdx has come up and said Registry Error Cannot import C:\Users\Carrie\Desktop\LEGACY_TDX.reg Error Accessing the registry. The TDX went on fine do you still want me to reboot and see if the NetO is in the directory?
