OK, so I have a officejet pro 8500 wireless printer, and I have a desktop w/o any sort of wireless in another room. Aside from it being hardwired into a wireless router. so I am tring to print from this computer on the wireless printer. what do i need to do?

Did you install the printer drivers on the computer? If the drivers are installed did you set it up to connect to your network? I don't know about HP but my Canon wireless printer let me choose between installing wired to the computer or a wireless install. During set up as wireless I had to configure the printer to connect with my home network.

The computer I'm using has no wireless capability and is plugged into the router and I am able to use wireless printing just fine.

By the way, your question is not stupid.
