Question I'm repairing and rebuilding a Broken laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad SL510 2847-CZU) and notice it has a Express Card 34mm. The laptop will have everything internally installed from a wwan 3g adapter to a firewire/usb port. My question is since there will be nothing worth putting inside the 34mm is it possible to buy a HP Express Card 34mm Remote control and put it in that slot? And would all the functions work? Would any 34mm device fit in the slot?

I believe that the item you linked is just the remote control and requires the laptop to have the receiver built into the laptop. Thus I doubt it will work for you since you do not have a compatible HP.

The FAQ on that page says

Q. Is this item compatible with my part?
A. Please refer to the manufacturer for compatibility information. We are unable to give compatibility recommendations.

Which will most likely kill any chance of a refund when it doesn't work.

Good Luck
Roger

Just because it is there does not mean it needs to be used.

However it can be used to add anything your laptop doesn't have right now.

Examples:
eSATA
USB3
Serial Port
Parallel port
etc.

I guess I feel like if you have the opening for something use it. I know that's bad logic. But that's what I always went by. Would this 3.0 work well? I know its no name brand and FROM CHINA!!!!!!

It might work, do you feel like being a tester? I noticed that package contents said nothing about the required Drivers disk or which standard connectors for the cables it uses.

I think I'd want to buy from someplace where I knew I could do a return easily.

There is a shipper that offers one from NY for $6 More. I just hope it's not to long and doesn't stick out 34mm 64mm
