Win7 shutdown is <winkey> <right arrow> <enter> = .2 seconds.
Win8 shutdown is <winkey>r shutdown -s -t 1 = 2-3 seconds and prone to typos.

There must be a better way.

Works for me (tried on a few Win7 Machines here).

There's no place like 127.0.0.1

weird ,but I cant get it to do it anymore on the laptop I did it on the other day

edit ,I think I just figured out why ,do it slow one key at a time and it a natural shutdown

so ,alt+f4 is the quickest way for win8

Ahh I see. Windows opens the windows menu, right arrow to highlight shutdown, enter to select it. I was looking for a keyboard combination.
