My computer won't connect through the internet except with internet explorer,my tablet, cellphone, XBox, and wife's PC are all fine.

Ways I've tried to connect:
Steam, Google Chrome, Malewarebytes update, and AVG free (requires internet to install).

What I have tried:
Changing DNS settings in chrome, running Malwarebytes (No detections), AVG (couldn't install due to "no connection"), Avast (No results), tried installing Ad-Ware (Can't "connect"), and I tried the LAN settings (Detect settings and unchecking the proxy box).

Nothing has helped. Any ideas on what to try would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Well, the finger points to Chrome, since IE works.

Uninstall it, reinstall it.

I already said it's more than just Chrome. Also, I did reinstall it, still nothing. I can't connect to Steam, PeerBlock, Chrome, uTorrent, Malwarebyte updates, AVG installation (due to needing a connection.

My computer won't connect through the internet except with internet explorer

Hi -
According to you, you "can connect with Internet Explorer". Is this correct or do you mean that you have "Limited Connection" with I.E.??
Are you posting from the problem computer now ??

First uninstall uTorrent as this is what causes a lot of problems .

NEXT -
Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator > Type sfc /scannow > Press Enter
Let this run (about 15 minutes on average) and then it will return to your normal screen -

NEXT -
Please try to download MiniToolBox, Save it to your desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following boxes:

•Flush DNS
•Report IE Proxy Settings
•Reset IE Proxy Settings
•Report FF Proxy Settings
•Reset FF Proxy Settings
•List content of Hosts
•List IP configuration
•List last 10 Event Viewer log
•List Installed Programs
List devices (Problem only)
•List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and copy / paste the result (Result.txt).

Thank You -

I am posting from the computer now. I have internet, but some sites are starting to become restricted. At first I was able to post on CNet, now my IE keeps saying "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" even though I'm on the site on my phone and tablet.

As for the sfc /scannow I recieved "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations"

Here is my MiniToolBox Results: http://pastebin.com/VvcDTJpa

I'm thinking it's going to just be easier to reinstall windows completely. No virus scans have found anything, Malwarbytes and TSSKiller didn't find anything...

Thanks for the help.

Try this,

Go to Control Panels Click on Internet Options Go to Advance Tab

find Reset Internet Explorer setting hit Reset.

It will reset to everything to "first run"

If that doesn't help

in that same window make sure that Security tab is set to Medium-High or you can hit Reset all zones to defaults levels. Also Connections tab Go to LAN Settings Make sure that the check mark is check for Automatically detect settings.

hit ok and close restart IE. The top suggestion will reset everything to defaults so you dont have to go into the Security and Connections tabs

In your MiniToolBox there is no Hosts file listed -

Please click on this >> Reset the Hosts file back to the default in Windows and follow any instructions
ALSO -
Download Rogue killer
Right click on it and select run as administrator
Now,click on HOSTS FIX option on right side

Good news is itnernet explorer now works and all sites are working again. Bad news is all other programs are still not connecting. Steam can't connect and any programs requiring internet to update still can't connect.
