Secure your system by updating 3rd party programs.

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.

Check your present version and update as recommended.
https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

If present remove the old version(s) of Java using the Add/Remove Programs applet.

Java™ 6 Update 32

I updated Java, I deleted the adware as per instructions. the computer is still very slow booting to the login screen. If there is no other adware, virus, or spyware then maybe there is some hardware issue with the hard disk. Any ideas? Here is the log you requeste after adware removal.

HijackThis will only stop the processes from running at startup. Nothing will be deleted.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

Not required at startup.
O2 - BHO: Updater For FreeEbook Toolbar - {d0c8c8aa-a073-409b-894d-da56709cf452} - C:\Program Files (x86)\freeebooktoolbar\auxi\vmntemplaAu.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HP Software Update] C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Reader Speed Launcher] "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\Reader_sl.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: ["C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell DataSafe Local Backup\Components\DSUpdate\DSUpdate.exe"] "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell DataSafe Local Backup\Components\DSUpdate\DSUpdate.exe"
O4 - Startup: Intel® Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 2.0.lnk = C:\Program Files\Intel\TurboBoost\SignalIslandUi.exe
O4 - Global Startup: QuickBooks Update Agent.lnk = C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBUpdate\qbupdate.exe

Optional items.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RoxWatchTray] "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Roxio Shared\OEM\12.0\SharedCOM\RoxWatchTray12OEM.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Desktop Disc Tool] "C:\Program Files (x86)\Roxio\OEM\Roxio Burn\RoxioBurnLauncher.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Dell DataSafe Online] C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Dell Datasafe Online\NOBuClient.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe ARM] "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0\AdobeARM.exe"

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Restart the computer normally.

p.s.
I suggest you run HijackThis and select the items listed not required at startup.
Restart the computer.

If little improvement, Execute HijackThis and do the Optional Items and restart the computer normally.
===

HijackThis as a option to restore any disable Item.

Let say you want to restore this item.
O4 - Global Startup: QuickBooks Update Agent.lnk = C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBUpdate\qbupdate.exe

Open HijackThis. In the bottom right click on Config | Backups then highlight that entry and click on restore

You can do that for any or all the items provided you do not delete the HijackThis folder.
Which is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro\HiJackThis

If at any time you need help before proceeding please ask.
