Oh wow. I am not a computer person, and I don't know how to run programs, etc. I have gotten this blue screen with the words "driver not less than or equal". I don't know what else was on the screen. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, version 6.1. Previous to getting the "driver not less than or equal" screen, I had gotten a screen that said something like "Bad pool header" as well.... Please help! I appreciate it, thanks.

Download BlueScreenView:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next reply

1) What is new or different since before the bsod's started (new hw, sw, virus, reinstall of the os, etc)?

2) Look in device manager - any yellow or red symbols

3) Your problem is almost certainly a corrupt driver. The one cited is iastor.sys which is the Intel Raid Controller.

You should start with uninstalling AVAST.If BSOD reoccurs post the new log.

There are no red/yellow symbols in the Device Manager. I have installed a couple of things: DivX, Western Digital external drive and software, Google Talk plug-in, Mozilla Firefox, various updates.

It seems to be happening only once a week or so and the errors are different - that makes it hard to diagnose. I suggest we start with some basic troubleshooting:

1) Run full scans with BOTH your anti virus app and with MalwareBytes

2) Check the HD ( To run checkdisk, right-click on a command prompt icon and open as administrator. In the command prompt window type: chkdsk /r (then press ENTER). You'll be told the disk is in use and asked if you want to run checkdisk on the next boot. Say yes, exit the command prompt window, and reboot.)

3) Check the ram ( download memtest (http://memtest.org/). Burn it to a cd using a dedicated .iso burning utility (http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm), make sure the cd drive is at the top of the boot order in bios, then boot to the newly created cd and run the utility.)

Again, I'm guessing it's a corrupt driver but there's no harm in running these diagnostics.

It seems to be happening only once a week or so and the errors are different - that makes it hard to diagnose. I suggest we start with some basic troubleshooting:

1) Run full scans with BOTH your anti virus app and with MalwareBytes

I did both. Malware was clean, no malicious items. Avast reported one corrupted file: JS:Iframe-QO [Trj], moved to "chest".

Nothing of note as a result of this check.

I am unsure of which one to use... I have Windows Home 7 Premium, Service Pack 1...

Again, I'm guessing it's a corrupt driver but there's no harm in running these diagnostics.

I greatly appreciate your help!

Here's a direct download link: Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)

When you have downloaded the zip file, right-click on it > Extract to get the .iso file that you need to burn to a CD in the correct manner.

The fact that you found a trojan on your system is not insignificant. It is possible that the infection was - and is - the cause of your problems.

Yikes, this is not working for me. I've downloaded the iso recorder, but after it's been installed and when I right-click on the iso file of the memtest, there is no option to copy the image to disk when I put in a blank disk in the drive. Help - what am I doing wrong?
