Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forums, and I'm in dire need of help. Lately, my computer has been having the "blue screen of death" crash. These crashes happen at random. They can be 4 days apart, or 4 hours apart. The first time It happened, I figured that I could solve it by cleaning out my registry, and uninstalling any new software and programs I recently installed. This however, did not work. It has been about 3 hours since the last crash. I cant remember exactly what the report said, but it was something to do with a "minidump" and something called WER in my Temp folder. It would be awesome if one of you guys could help me out in my predicament! Also, I apologize for the lack of information given, if you need more information, please ask.

Welcome aboard Posted Image

Registry is off limits. Leave it alone.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

It looks like Avast gives you fits.

Uninstall it using this utility: http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe
Install fresh copy and see how it goes.

Ok...I downloaded the link you gave me, and uninstalled my avast. But It says I have to purchase it again. I guess there was'nt an email linked to my avast or something. I hope avast was the reason behind my crashes, because now im stuck without antivirus.

I suggest you email Avast. They should have your name on file so there should be now problem with providing you with a new product key.

In the meanwhile install free version so you're protected.

While I was waiting for a reply from avast, I found my avast license on my computer, and reinstalled it that way, so its all good. Thanks for the help broni.
And how did you know that it was avast that was causing my crashes?

Good news :)

In your log you can see:

Caused By Driver : aswSnx.SYS

aswSnx.SYS is a part of Avast.
