Ok I know that the sound card thing was partially due to my own ignorance, well I'm back with a more pertinent question. When trying to use Totem to play video, I get an error message stating the "ALSA Device can't initialize" or something to that extent. When I configured my Card for use with OSS I got plenty of great sound with System events and CD's. When I trie to play DVD's with Totem However, it wants the Driver for ALSA.

So I'm wondering if there's a spot on the Web with a tutorial for setting up ALSA on FC4. I requested it on the Linux Forums web site, but still waiting to hear something.

If some could help With this, I'd appreciate it.

Raw, Any Ideas?

The best answer I could find is that ESD needs to be turned off.
I tried Fedora when it broke off from RedHat and had nothing
but problems (especially sound(I have two sound cards))
And I had problems with Totem in Mandrake 10.0.
Try the LiveCD version of PCLinuxOS and see if sound works in it.
Note: DVD's will not play straight off the LiveCD version without libdvdcss.

Found this on another forum.

type alsamixer, then mute the option Line Jack Sense
