My Firefox browsing history, and an unknown amount of other pesonal data, won't go away.

I've tried clicking on clear personal data, deleting the history manually, and I've even tried using CCleaner, but that didn't work. What's going on?

Ok, I guess some more information is in order.

1. I have Windows XP Pro. I'm always logged in as Administrator.
2. The items stuck in the history are only from a certain period of time, maybe a week ago or so. All later information is deleted as normal.
3. In addition to using CCleaner, I tried purging spyware with SpyBot. That doesn't seem to have helped.

So, any clues to solve this mystery?

hadleyburg,

My first instinct is to tell you to save all your bookmarks and anything else you want to save in a file outside of your Firefox profile. Then delete Firefox, and reboot. Then reinstall Firefox, then import your bookmarks, and other items. This is just a thought since nothing else seems to work. It also appears something is corrupted in Firefox. But I couldn't tell you what exactly is corrupted. hth

You will need to both remove Ff using the add/remove Windows application, as well as to remove the Profile (stored in a different folder). Be sure to export your bookmarks to a different file before removing the profile. Here is a link that will tell you, depending on your version of Windows, where your Ff profile is located (see the topic "other information"):
