Hello.

Every time I try to open any Microsoft Office program like Word or Excel, the Windows Installer comes on and the document doesn't open.

I think I have to do something with the registry to prevent that from happening, but don't really know how to do that.

Help please and thank you :)

I don't have that Microsoft Frontpage program the link speaks of.

Also, I think I can use the Windows Install Cleanup Utility, but I'm not sure exactly what to do and I don't want to pick the wrong option

Please post the exact message that you are receiving.

What version of Microsoft Office are you using.

Going on the given information I did a search and found a Microsoft Support article which includes the following text.

"Each time you start an Office program, a dialog box for Windows Installer appears with the following message:Preparing to install...This is followed by another dialog box, with the following message:Please wait while Windows configures Office Editionwhere Office Edition is the edition of Office that you have installed."

If this looks familiar you can read the article here.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Hello all.

I was able to resolve the problem. I re-installed Microsoft Office and it works again.

Thanks for the suggestions.
