Hello,
My dad wants me to fix his computer up, I did install Ad-Aware SE, Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, CCLEaner, eWido. They all found about 40 items and I am posting a HJT Log to make sure he is 100% clean, The internet on this computer is networked on DSL but seems very slow is it alright if I use WinSockLSPFix?

PS: I accidentatly download/installed AdwareAlert and found it was rogue so I did uninstall it andhopefully it is removed.

HJT:

Hello and welcome to the forum. First let me say I see no malware in this log. I see this fix: http://www.webattack.com/get/winsockxpfix.html as something to restore a lost internet connection as the result of spyware removal, and since you have a connection I doubt it will do any good, I can't see the harm in trying but I would wait until you have checked all other possiblities. I suggest you get your ISP involved because the can run tests to see what is causing the problem and should be able to correct it.

If you don't mind, I would like a look at a ewido scan: I see ewido onboard, open the program and choose update, allow time for it to finish. Now click scanner then complete system scan. Allow ewido to remove anything it locates unless you know it is not bad. Save that scan report, I must see it.

When you are sure all is well with the computer, you are running: C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe so you need to view this information: http://russelltexas.com/malware/defender.htm

Along with the ewido scan results, let me know about any other symptions, error messages your are receiving "word for word", and the results of the tests by your ISP.

Thanks...pskelley

If ewido is clean there is no reason for me to look at it. As far as the Windows Defender, that is the Microsoft has released a beta successor to Microsoft AntiSpyware. Microsoft will expect you to update but the decision is yours. Read theinformation provided in the link and then you can decide. There is a forum for it here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum66.html

As far as your Internet Service Provider, you pick up a telephone and call their number. That is who you pay for service.

Thanks...pskelley

Thanks for the information, if you surf, you will pick up cookies. You can run Ad-aware or Spybot to remove them, or control what gets to your computer:
http://privacy.getnetwise.org/browsing/too...fdisablecookies
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/p..._priv_help.html
I can tell you you may want to avoid the site where you picked this one up: TrackingCookie.Casalemedia

Some good information about ewido:
ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957
http://russelltexas.com/malware/allclear.htm
http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=14
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topict2520.html
http://cybercoyote.org/security/not-admin.shtml

It is probably a good idea to clean your System Restore files:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...src=sec_doc_nam

Safe surfing
Thanks...pskelley
