Suppose I could be classed as an 'enthusiastic amateur'. Am running a 12 month old NEC Packard Bell M215 I-Media, 2.8GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD with XP Home (preinstalled i.e. no hard copy Grrr).

I have KerioPF & Avast with Spybot, SpywareBlaster, WinPatrol, Defender, and several other non-background antispyware i.e. a2 and AdAware. I use Advanced Windows Care, ERUNT with NTREGOPT and CCleaner. Picked up SpyFalcon this week which required a system restore.

On Wednesday I installed a wireless modem/router out in the hall with USB adapters on the other computers (Broadband at last YEEEEEHAAAAA) Recently installed a 1.3MB webcam but haven't used it yet, a bit wary of P2P and chat rooms.

Have IE6 with FOXie suite and Firefox, but my preferred browser is OPERA 8.5. For info, I subscribe to newsletters from CNet, PC World, PC Mag and the Newbie Club.

I am 64, single, live in a boardinghouse with a number of other permanent residents and keep busy with part time and handyman work. I look forward to mutually beneficial contact with you all. Cheers
