I installed google chrome on a cliet pc, the install went fine. When chrome became the default, a number of user generated text files when changed to html files, I searched for a solution, it was to change the default browser to ie explorer, which I did, they are still html files which shows the formatting and have an ie icon.
I ran spybot which found some issues but didn't fix the problem, I ran combofix.exe to no avail. I have the log file it created for anyone who can help me to change these files back to their original state.

Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Hi sflamm :)

Which program do you want files with a .txt extension to open with?

  • Open any Windows Explorer window
  • Select Tools ==> Folder Options ==> View (tab) ==> UNcheck "Hide extensions for known file types" ==> Press OK
