I was infected with this virus a few days ago. I spent 8-9 hours non stop for two days trying to rid my computer of this. I found a guide here, that seemed to help the most. I was able to get my screen back to normal, I think the majority of my icons are now unhidden, I am able to use the internet again without it redirecting me all over the place and the endless screen pop ups have gone away, but, I still have the file recovey icon on my task bar that wont remove, and the "scanner" for this will not go away. I have downloaded and used unhide, roguekiller, Rkill, antimalaware, hitmanpro. I still have this on my computer though and I was wondering if I have missed something? I cannot use the system restore, and Im not sure why. I can finally access it, and it runs, but its unsuccessful. If anyone could be of assistance I would greatly appreciated it.

Please run the following:

Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in
    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    Userinit.exe
    svchost.exe
    services.exe
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /rp /s
    %systemdrive%\$Recycle.Bin|@;true;true;true /fp
    DRIVES
    CREATERESTOREPOINT
  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Post both logs

NEXT

  • Please download aswMBR.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click aswMBR.exe to start the tool.
  • When asked if you want to download Avast's virus definitions please select Yes.
  • Click Scan

  • Upon completion of the scan, click Save log and save it to your desktop, and post that log in your next reply for review. Note - do NOT attempt any Fix yet.
  • You will also notice another file created on the desktop named MBR.dat. Right click that file and select Send To>Compressed (zipped) file. Attach that zipped file in your next reply as well.
