My wife has a toshiba Satellite L645D-S4040 running Windows 7 64 bit. This morning she ran an update and has since lost wifi and Fn F8 does not work. Went to Toshiba site and downloaded and ran the TVAP. It got rid of the Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter and we still can't get the wifi to enable. Unfortunately she does not remember which update it was that she performed. Help.

Update: My wife remembered that the only change she made was to install Secunia PSI from this sites download section.

Does FN+F8 key work after installing TVAP?

Did you try a system restore?

Hi,
The support Bulletin I found is titled Wireless LAN card stops working and is no longer detected by Device Manager.

There is a issue with this model with the Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless card. The issue fix suggested is to download the Windows 7 32/64 version 2007.1.2009 that was issued to address this issue. Available through the Toshiba Download section.

Try it and see it is a Toshiba fix.

Of course if you have a different brand or model of wireless card that won't help.

Good Luck
Roger

Did a system restore to yesterday and still not working. Have a RealTek RTL8188CE Wireless Lan 802.11n PCI-E NIC #2. Also shows Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI-E fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20). Also shows Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter. All show in device manager.

Well, that is all I found from Toshiba. Did you try updating the wireless driver using the drivers from the Toshiba website? Sometimes they need their own. You do have all the the Toshiba stuff installed? They have all sorts of utilities and special hardware drivers that make them run better.

Good Luck

Okay, Wife got instructions from Toshiba to reset function flash cards, and I set it to show them when mouse moved to top of screen. Was able to access the F8 flashcard and was able to turn wifi back on. Problem now fixed.

Thanks to those who assisted.
