I have an IO Gear GUB211 auto printer sharing switch that I have been using to share an OKI B4250 printer between a Dell Dimension E510 desktop and a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Both computers run MS XP, one Pro, one Home. Some time ago both computers started giving print errors when we tried to print from either computer. If I bypass the printer sharing switch and run a USB cable directly from either computer to the printer there is no problem printing from either system. I looked at the manual for the GUB211 and it says to make sure the same printer is selected on both systems. To verify that is the case I tried to open the IO Gear software (from the desktop icon and also from the All Programs list) and nothing happens. I uninstalled the IO Gear software and reinstalled it using the mini disk that came with the printer sharing switch. There is no changeóI still canít open the IO Gear software. I tried to download the latest driver but I donít know if I was successful or not. BTW, this printer sharing switch worked fine for several years. Any suggestions?
