Peace to all. I am self-taught in this field of Desktop Computer Science. I always looked at my Blackberry Smartphone as "One step below a PC and Planned to wait until a computer came out that was the same size as a Blackberry before I purchased one. I was given 2 beat up Optiplex GX110 desktops.
Optiplex GX110(Small Frame)- Windows XP Pro-256MB Ram in one and 128MB in the other.
After studying "The Complete Guide to Windows XP" by Peter Norton and using my Blackberry as an Internet source, my modification of the Optiplex began. The RAM was increased to the the max of 512MB in the 256MB unit which was in better shape.
I installed a 5 port Enhanced PCI card(one port is under the cover) and replaced the faulty CD Drive.
After many trials and tribulations this unit is used daily. I have about 1 year of good, all around computer experience and joined this forum to learn more about the ins and outs of the field.
