After a power outage, my ie7 is playing up, normally when I google stuff and click on a link, that link on the google page goes purple, to remind me I have clicked that link before. But now it doesn't stay purple, every time I click refresh the purple highlight disappear.

I have try
repairing ie7
scan for malware
deleted cookie and temp files
reg clean
but none fixed the problem.
*edit*
I have reinstall IE7 and upgrade it to IE8
any ideas what or how to fix the problem?

reg clean << Not worth it -
Hi -
Can you try and update to IE 8 and see if this helps as IE 7 is now outdated -
Do you get regular M/soft updates, as that should have auto updated to IE 8 ??
32bit version download for IE 8 -
Regards -

.
OK - Open Internet Explorer and on the top line click on Tools
Go > Tools > Internet options > Advanced tab > then click on Restore both the Advanced settings and the IE settings.
Clicl the Apply and OK buttons, and it may ask you to Restart your computer -

Let us know if that works out for you -

Done what you told me, still the same.

After installing IE8 I notice it run and load abit slower then IE7, is that normal at the start?
Also after restoring the advance setting, the web is blurry?

*edit*
fixed the blurry screen, cleartype was on when I done the restore.

FWIW: IE 7 is no longer supported by some websites.

This could account for some seeming issues, IMO.

@hamluis, noknojon told me already and I have upgraded to IE8 but the problem still occur. I am using google as a example, but the link doesn't stay purple on other sites as well.
I know it a small problem but IT just really really bug the hell out of me.

You speak as if that is the only problem with your system...is that true?

Then...I suggest simply installing/using a different browser for a while...to help pinpoint the problem.

If the problem appears with another browser...it's a system problem. If it doesn't, it's an IE file problem.

Yup, that is the only problem I have on my system. I also am using firefox and it works perfectly. Only IE have the problem which only occur after the power outage.
I would try a system restore if I haven't disable it (i have disable it to remove some malware and forgot to enable it again).

Something for you to try: Reset Interent Explorer. If it works, great. If not no harm done by trying.

Start menu/Control Panel/Internet Options

Advanced tab.

Reset Internet Explorer settings is at the bottom of Advanced.

Click Reset.

You will asked to confirm that you want to Reset. At this point, you can either delete personal
settings or keep them.

Click the Reset button.

After reset, your home page will be set to msn.com

You can easily change it to the page you prefer.

I have done that already but it didn't work.

**UPDATE**
I'm not sure if this is important but I forgot to mention that the link I clicked before the power outage stay purple even when refresh, it the new ones that won't stay highlighted.

I also am using firefox and it works perfectly. << Is F/fox still operating OK ??
Only asking as this is 3 days after your first post ?
Is the same problem still with I.E. after you have shut down the computer each night, and then restarted it a few times ?

Also I would turn off the Modem at the wall plug over night, unless required for telephone usage -

Just an Update -
