Greetings,

My name is Gene and I live in the San Francisco Bay area. I've been impressed how forum volunteers carefully diagnose infections and offer tools and have the proper training to remove malware. Usually the quick advice is to just reformat the drive, but that should be if all else fails.

I have used Windows since 1992, and either by careful computing or dumb luck I have not had problems. I run Nod32,MBAM,and both the Windows 7 Firewall and my Linksys router firewall. I know malware writers are a busy lot,and there is money to be made hijacking computers and harvesting passwords.

On the other side are snake oil peddlers or simply wrong minded advice. If I were sick, I know to seek professional medical attention first.

That's what brings me here. I have come to the right place.

All the best,

Gene

I doubt it is by dumb luck that you have avoided malware, but more likely the result of careful use of the internet and having a layer of applications helping protect your computer. Still, if you do have a question or need help, please don't hesitate to post about it.
Welcome to BC, and thanks for the kind words.
Regards,
John
