I was hacked after being conned early morning when I was woken by a phone call purporting to be from Microsoft chasing a virus(doh!). Stupidly, as I knew my computer had a virus, I logged on and was asked to update virus protection and pay $400. They were a long time on my computer and I became suspicious, so I pulled the plug and reported the transaction to my credit card company.Luckily I had been made redundant 6 months previously and had an overdraft that was maxed out!
They repeatedly rang me, asking me to go online, and after hanging up several times my wife(still a polite Englishwoman, but a headmistress of a public school, and when crossed, FORMIDABLE) was disturbed from her sleep by a call, and told them not to phone again. This gave a couple of months quiet, but recently they rang again.this time I failed to be polite.
I have noticed that when I am online, at times I see a "downloading from 03 or 04 .prescence.userplane.com and I suspect that this is the hackers downloading spyware.
Can anyone help me trace these miserable scum of the earth who are prostituting a valuable resource for good to criminal ends?
